How to Set Tax Rates

Before launching your new store, it's important to take some time to figure out what your tax requirements are. Woocommerce doesn't handle taxes automatically, but it does have the tools to help you charge customers and keep track of what you owe. You will have to set up your own tax system within the platform.

How to set up a tax rate

  • In the admin dashboard, go to Woocommerce > Settings > General and check the Enable tax rates and calculations box.
  • Save your changes.
  • On the Settings page, go to the Tax tab.
  • At the top of the Tax tab, select if your prices should be inclusive or exclusive of taxes.
  • Click on the Standard Rate tab to set your own tax rates.
  • Click Insert Row to add a tax rate.
  • If you don't want to enter all the tax rates manually, we can activate the Woocommerce Tax plugin on your site (free) and once it's connected, it will pull the rates automatically.
