How to Set Up Shipping Rates

If you plan on shipping physical books to your customers, it will be important to add and review your shipping rates. Some print-on-demand integration might already be able to set shipping rates for you, but if they didn't, you can follow this tutorial to set them up manually.

How to set zone shipping rates

  • In the admin dashboard, go to Woocommerce > Settings > Shipping and click Add shipping zone.
  • Give your shipping zone a name and select the regions this shipping zone applies to. (For example, you can use the name UK + US and select United Kingdom (UK) and United States (US) as the regions.)
  • Click on Add shipping method and select the shipping method you would like to use for that region. You can select between flat rate, free shipping, and local pickup. In most cases, you will likely use flat rate or free shipping.
  • If you have selected a Flat rate shipping method, click the Edit button to set the cost.
  • If you have selected a Free Shipping method, click the Edit button if you want to set conditions that need to be set to enable free shipping.
  • Note that you can set multiple shipping rates, so you could have a $10 shipping rate but offer free shipping on orders over $50.
  • Click Save.
  • Repeat for as many zones as you want to offer shipping to.

How to set shipping rates for the rest of the world

If you don't want to set shipping zones for every single country in the world, you can do it by setting a shipping method for "locations not covered by your other zones".

If you do not want to offer shipping outside of the regions set manually, leave this section empty.

  • In the admin dashboard, go to Woocommerce > Settings > Shipping and click on the Locations not covered by your other zones title.
